Default 53 Ford flathead fuel pump

I have a 53 Ford with a v8 flathead I purchased a diaphragm for the fuel pump and was taking it apart. I was wondering how to get it off. I see it has a slot on the shaft that connects to the pump. Do you have to push that pin out and take out the spring? I didn't want to make a mess of the project so I figured I ask the pros.. Any help is appreciated. Should I have just purchased a new pump ? Thanks

Here is a blow-up diagram of your fuel pump on Van Pelt web sire. Always a great place for info, parts and advise.
