Default Two Piece Oil Pans? When were they made?

I have searched but cannot find any reference to the 2 piece oil pan. I am looking for a 2 piece oil pan, one that will let me remove the flywheel without dropping the oil pan. What year car or truck were these installed new?

Don't ever remember seeing one but it wouldn't take much to strategically cut the bell housing portion off and create a bolt together joint to allow it to be removed.

I have no date when these were released but I believe it was for the 59 AB trucks with the larger clutch. I have a few on the shelf and can snap some photos if you want to see what they look like.

I agree with Stenny; jailbar trucks had them

And there is two versions ; one has the regular big drain plug, the other has the big clean out removeable plate.

Brian....Actually, there are at least three types. This one is supposedly Canadian heavy duty truck application. DD

I have known about them and using them for years. They certainly do make life a lot easier when doing a clutch and flywheel job.

Ford-ers;

Note the difference in the road draft arrangement -- a bolt on draft tube

extending aside to rear of the engine rather than the slotted tri shape

can --more Canadian &/or Export than USA -just My opinion

More neat Ford stuff & practical! Love it

The yellow pan is Canadian military. 1942-48 Part#6675. I have one of the military two piece pans and a regular two piece pan. Both oil bosses on them do not have a place for a oil return line. They do have one in the side of the pan. I believe that would make them 1942 and earlier.

Hi all; I restored a low miles '48 Canadian M-37 1/2 ton pickup and it came with a 2 piece pan. All the rest I have seen were on big trucks/COE's too. Newc

If anyone has just the pan for sale, I’d be interested. I have the back piece.

Lol. The yellow one is mine. It came off a C59A (or C69/AT according to rebuild tag). Mine was used as an industrial engine out in western Canada. It was disaassembled when I purchased it, and the seller provided me with two remote oil filters. There is no oil return line in the pan that I can recall.

Brian.... 1st with a normal, small drain plug. 2nd with large, steel ROUND clean-out hole. 3rd with this OBLONG style, steel clean-out-shaped plate cover like YELLOW above. DD

Does this mean a person doesn't have to remove engine to replace clutch plate ?

Still have to remove the engine or the transmission but don't have to remove the oil pan.

And that is kind of nice especially if you have no leaks in the pan or seals
