Default More junk to ID?

I found more junk in the garage that I know nothing about. I haven't spent anytime lately trying to clean out Dad's garage and ask for help identifying but I found these while looking for something else. One is obviously the plate that covers the engine for the distributer. It has 3 holes and the only marking I can find is a #9 or #6 depending on one's perspective. At some point someone painted it red. It is solid and rust free. The other is some sort of air intake, obviously not EFV8 but I'm curious what it's application was. It's aluminum and has no markings. Both have been there for decades. To my eye it is an after market cheapie but I know nothing. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tom

The red thing is a pre war 3 bolt timing cover for the v8's, and the other is a "cal custom" fake blower scoop to put on a 4 barrel carb

Look up "Cal Custom scoop" on the auction sight; they have not been an "aftermarket cheapie" for a while.

Hello Tomcarman,
I have that same timing cover on my 1937 21 stud, 1938 21 stud and 1939 24 stud engines.

Timing cover? Typically, not worth the postage to ship it.
That fake scoop? My guess? Worth some decent coin

3 bolt, yes. Scrap it. If it was a 2 bolt, it is worth it. Two bolt covers are going for around $50

$50? When was the last time you saw one go for $50? These days, more like $25. Maybe...

Is this a 2 bolt cover? It's hanging on the wall out of reach. I took a picture from the ground and cropped it.

Total poser material . . . pretty much sums up a lot of what Cal Custom has made over the years. The guys who couldn't afford the real stuff - or didn't know how to use it - bought Cal Crustom! LOL

I just jolted myself back 55 years. I used the term instinctively, but "Mickey Mouse" was a term we used almost universally to describe stuff we had disdain for in the mid-sixties (at least in the Twin Cities area).

Does anyone else remember this?

Yes, sir. $50 bucks. Saw one early today. If rusty and needs to be cleaned then $35-40.

I will take all the $25 2 bolt plates anyone is willing to sell. They sell on Instagram in old car/hot rod circles for $50 all day long.

I remember "Mickey Mouse". I think it was in common usage for a couple decades. Probably most of us boomers still use the term sometimes.

A few years ago I payed 75 (shipped , and blasted clean) for a 2 bolt cover because I needed it now. In my original post, I stated "prewar 3 bolt cover" which should be true, however I have had several 59 blocks with a 3 bolt cover. Perhaps dealer replacement motors where they chose to leave the old distributor intact, I don't know, but I believe that makes the 2 bolt cover more rare, and in the case of hotrod stuff the crab dizzy is a shorter engine assembly than the helmet , which can be a big issue
