Default trans noise

a friends rattletrap roadster suddenly started making a rattling noise in high gear only, worse on acceleration. I ain't thunk of a reason yet, anybody got any ideas?

Is it in the trans or something else? There's not much to rattle in the trans...they can thunk and growl if a bearing is dying.

Pinion nut coming lose! 5 or 6 years ago a post " knock in third gear" it was a long battle to find the problem! It was one of the top 10 threads in my view :-)

You need to get a stethoscope with a rubber hose on the end and isolate the noise as best you can.
