Default 41 Ford Convertible Top

Hi guys, I need some help.

My convertible was in rough shape when I bought it. It was missing the rocker boxes, typical Northeastern rust bucket. Now that I have the rust sorted out, I need a measurement to locate the clevis that mount the power top jackscrews to the top of the rocker box behind the B pillar.

Thanks in advance.

Also, I need info/pictures on the plywood behind the rear seat that makes up the convertible top well.

Thanks again.

Hey Dan, just how rough was your 41? I sold a really rough one many years ago that went up north and just wonder if by chance it would be the same one.

It looked ok in this picture but I had a donor sedan to help revive it. The story I got from the pervious owner was he bought it in Eastern PA. He had it for a few years then I bought it from him in the Baltimore area.

I don't think that was the one I had. I will say that I think from the looks of things, you are the right owner for it. You are doing great work bringing it back to life.

Restoring a convertible, even in reasonably good shape, is a tall order. They were less produced in the first place, and the Ford bodies were actually made by a vendor. Due to exposure when the top rotted, the interior was usually destroyed, or in very poor condition. Mine took several years to complete. It is a joy to drive now, and attracts attention where ever it goes. Good luck with your project!
