Default 49-53 Truck Engine Pan Support

On these engines, there is a bracket on the bottom of the tranny clutch cover extending forward under the back of the engine pan that I assume is some kind of pan support. Mine is missing its rubber pad that I believe the rear of the pan sits on. Is that it's function, or is it some kind of rear engine support? Appreciate any and all advice on its function and any suppliers of the rubber support out there.

Thanks, Barners.

The '48-'52 truck oil pans have a bracket on the bottom of the sump that bolts directly through the starter plate and cast half bell, giving more support. The '53 truck uses a full cast iron bell housing that has no connection to the oil pan.
The '49-'50 (and some early '51) Mercurys did have an angle bracket attached to the starter plate that connects to three studs on the bottom of the oil pan.
In both cases, there was no rubber pad that I'm aware of. There is a rubber dust seal that runs along the top of the Merc starter plate, and an alloy/rubber seal that tucks between the pan and indented truck starter plate.

Mac Van Pelts has both rubber gaskets.

That's a separate dust shield that has the rubber

This is the bracket OP is referring to. It's welded solidly to the pan and as Bob said, the clutch cover/starter plate bolt to it. No rubber.
