Removal of backrest seat in 1930 coupe
Hi Guys I need help ! How do I remove the backrest seat ? I have taken out the seat - easy to do that but where are the bolts/ screws for the backrest seat ? Do I remove the parcel shelf or what ? I am totally miffed here as I wish to remove the upholstery to get to the windows to replace the sealing rubbers. Thanks Guys. John Spragg Australia.

Re: Removal of backrest seat in 1930 coupe
The backrest upholstry is nailed to the seat frame and will have to be detached to remove the backrest. You should be able to do the windows without removing it but you will have to remove most of the interior panels to get to the rubbers. I may be wrong about this but I don't think so. You can also remove the whole seat to get it out of the way and not have to remove the backrest.

Re: Removal of backrest seat in 1930 coupe
Yes, the backrest and the seat frame are one big L-shaped piece. And, the folding "bellows" connects the top of the seat back to the package tray.
There may be a long, skinny upholstered panel covering the package tray (although they are frequently missing). Adjust the seat all the way forward, and pull that panel toward the front of the car to remove it. There may be a few small brads to be dealt with in order to get it to slide. Once that is out of the way, the bellows is likely tacked to the package tray with more of those brads. Pop it free. When you pull the seat bottom out, you will see screws in the wooden seat frame on either side of the sliders. Remove those screws. Then get a friend, tilt the seat frame forward and remove it through the passenger door. Good luck. Ken

Thanks for your advice fellas- I think I have now got it ! Sadly I need to fix those window seals and have to remove that back rest seat, all I need is a hand to lift it out - anyone offering a loan of their girl friend to do this?..... Well worth a try any how. Thanks again much appreciated. John Spragg Australia.
