Air Cleaners
I've go my three 97's set up and all is running well. Rebuilt by Uncle Max. Used a unisyn to balance them out. Great response, starts easily, plugs look good, etc. My question is: When I put on the air cleaners there is a noticable change in engine RPM. I'm using the bonnet type air cleaners with louvers and K&N filter elements. My concern is that this will cause a rich running condition. Any suggestions as to which type of air cleaners are best to run. Frog Mouth, Velocity Stacks, etc. Thanks for you inputs.

Re: Air Cleaners
Someone, in the past, posted that a 4" tall air filter (K/N) is needed. Smaller are too restricted. This is from memory.

Re: Air Cleaners
Thanks Tony, I'll check them out. I can't believe that 140 people viewed this post and only one (You) had a suggestion. Thanks again.

Re: Air Cleaners
I'll wager that if you send a PM to Walt Dupont, and asked nicely, he'd send you the part number for the tall K&N aircleaners.

Re: Air Cleaners
Personally I cant see how a filter that small and so close to the opening of carb can be any good , You've seen it yourself. An airfilter on a carb if correct so show no noticable difference either on or off.

Re: Air Cleaners
If the air cleaner makes a difference on or off, the filter area is way too small.
Figure 3 to 4 times the venturi area to be safe. It also depends on the filter media. (paper, foam, etc) |

Re: Air Cleaners
If you use the open side 4" air cleaner there is one from an Onan engine much taller not to expensive but works Wix 42362 Laurie
