Default The 2014 Model “T” Ford Snowmobile National Meet - T's & A's play in the Snow

While most antique vehicles in the snowbelt are put away in storage for the winter months, there is one group of antique vehicle owners where winter is the prime season. The Model “T” Ford Snowmobile Club held its 14th Annual National Meet on February 8-9, 2014 in Meredith, NH at the Moulton Farm. Over a dozen Model "T" and Model "A" Fords attended. Learn and see more at The Old Motor.

Thanks for sharing, that event is right nearby to me, I have been to it several times. The Snow mobile conversion kit was patented and manufactured in Ossipee NH, not far from that farm. Production was vigorous and the kits were well received and popular, it is not uncommon to find bit and pieces of them in old barns and old barn/farm sites, throughout northern New England, particularly along stone walls. The Moulton Farm itself dates back to 1811.

WOW! People were a lot hardier back then. Those people must have frozen while driving their open car no heat snow mobiles.

The only alternative was walking, horseback, or sleigh. Tucked in behind that cowl and windshield is not so bad.

Snow and ice. I go to the Ice Races every Sunday, they have to bore a hole the day of the races every time they race, to verify that the Ice is safe. One foot of hard ice is the minimum, the power auger has a two and a half foot bit, and they haven't hit water since early January! It was minus 4 this morning and minus 6 yesterday. We will not have ice out till May this year,

At the speed that they travel at, pretty responsive. I posted a picture last week of an A with skis on it. I watched him run around on the ice and snow for a couple of hours, he was turning corners at all speeds, very little slip.
