Default ID of overdrive unit

I would like to find if anybody recognizes the workmanship on this overdrive unit so I can find a part. The owner had been in contact with him a couple of years ago,but he can't remember who it was and can't find his note. The builder told him he had some problems years ago with that part, for whatever reason,I didn't get that info. The spline connector is stripped on the rear shaft.I would like to get what it needs and fix it,to either use or sell it.

How about using the splined section of a slip yoke, that looks like what they did.

Years ago when I had a couple of these in my A's the drive line was connected to the OD with a 6 spline coupler. If that's what you need they are available. Search in the 32 to 48 Ford on Mac's. The Part #: 32-16776-2. So what you're saying is the spine is stripped but not the output shaft on the OD?

I'm not an advocate for Mac's. I use them as a reference

This unit was installed in a car when it was redone, but never used until a couple of years ago.The OD worked great, but the car stopped moving after a couple of hundred miles. The owner pulled the rear, and tracked it down to a stripped spline coupling. The shaft is not stripped at all.I gave him a torque tube and driveshaft to use until he got the OD fixed.Turns out he didn't care about the OD at all.I just took him at his word that the spline was stripped.I just looked at it for the first time.It looks as if the splined coupling was only engaging the splines on the shaft by about 1/4 of an inch. Those are stripped in the coupling,it is easy to see.It looks as if the coupling was pushed too far on the shaft when it got welded. This is not 6 spline,I didn't count them, but it will be around 20.

It's a Borg-Warner unit,I'm looking to find out who adapted it for Model A use.
