Default Magna flux tool

I am on a search For this tool. It’s a magnet used to magna flux with. It doesn’t have a name on it, hoping someone can help with the manufactures name?

Probably a very old unit, that uses permanent magnets instead of electricity to generate the needed magnetic field. Would likely work if you had the appropriate ferrous powder to "dust" the area being tested. The link below is for a supplier of mag particle test equipment.

I don't have a clue as to the origins of the tester in your picture. But if you would like to build your own tester its simple to do. The machine shop I frequent has a home made tester it was built using the magnets form a pair of old speakers. No electricity needed it works extremely well.

I am quite sure a good/strong horse shoe shaped magnet will work with iron powder......should show all surface cracks.

I think you are correct. My shop let me use their “portable” unit several years ago while I was hunting for a intake manifold. It was a square U shape, with legs about 4 or 5 inches apart. They gave a bag of stuff, and a squeeze thing that looked like a bigger unit you would use on babies and infants to clear nostrils with. About the only way I can describe it
