You used the alien tape to hold the frame webbing in place so that it didn't move while installing the cab, etc? Then you just left the tape in place?
I always punch the needed holes in the frame webbing while installing the webbing and then tie it in place with sewing thread to keep the webbing from moving. You tape idea is great and I'll try it the next time i do frame webbing. Thanks for posting! |

I laid the tape down on top of the frame rails and laid the webbing on top of it and of course let the tape on. I then punched the hole's I needed with a punch and the webbing never moved. This is not a thin tape, Its a little on the thicker side. Boy does it stick!

It is much easier to use a piece of EMT conduit and a propane torch to burn a hole right thru the anti-squeak. Use small spring clamps to hold the fabric to the frame, and heat the end of the conduit until red. Then sear the hole right thru the webbing. Way faster. Once the aprons or fenders are installed, no need for any adhesives.

Re: Putting a 29 CCPU together and found something new
Thank You Brent!!!! Yesterday I used a foot long piece of copper pipe to do the holes in the webbing on top of the frame. I heated it up good and then placed it over the holes and it burnt the Most perfect holes in the webbing. Great Idea and Thanks Very Much!!!!
