Default Paint colors?

I'm putting the frame parts back on the frame of my 1937 ford stake body. Pulled from a junk yard but some what complete. It's not a restoration per say but since i've cleaned everything i may as well paint it, rattle can. Was the original bolts blackened or silver cad. Does anyone prefer gloss black for rear, tork tube etc, semi gloss, cast? Brake rods and other small parts?

Any thoughts welcome, just a poll

thanks to all. Hope all are having a good holiday.

Scott: First, do no harm. That makes black paint on the mechanicals less likely to need fixing in the case of further restoration or repair. Sloppy repairs, the same. To the extent that it is original, don't hesitate to use the original if it functions. Good Luck: Fred A

low lustra black was Ford's name for the frame/mechanical paint--semi-gloss, use rustoleum and prime the rusty parts with red rustoleum primer. I have done several frames using this process and all of them are still looking good. just to remember to really clean/de grease and de rust the frame first.
