Default Cheap Reproduction Hubcaps - to avoid Licence Fees

Reproduction 1954 Ford Hubcap - reading "F V8 V8 D". If they had used the word "FORD", they would have had to pay Ford Motor Company Licence Fees.
Has anyone got any similar cheap Repro Hubcaps?

I have some model A dust caps that say "FOOL" with fancy Ford type script that you need to really look hard to see the difference. I'll see if I can find them for fun!

Ahhh! The good old days. With places like "Western Auto" and "J.C.Whitney", the sky was the limit!.

Reproduction 1950 Chevrolet Hubcap. To avoid paying Licence Fees, note that the Bow-Tie Emblem has been altered accordingly.

How about an aluminum 32 cap made by Dick Manufacturing?

1932-1933 Ford Four Cylinder Aluminium posted by deuce5wndw. At least FORD is spelt correctly on these Reproduction Hubcaps.

1954 Reproduction Hubcap reading FV8V8D.
So Tinker, is the Reproduction Hubcap that you reckon is the "cat's whiskers"?

Genuine 1954 Ford Hubcap. This is what the Reproduction Hubcap should look like.

Hey Trev thanks for blowing up the pictures! Is the center in that 54 cap black? In the US the 54 cap is Maroon.

More fun with hubcaps! 1st a all chrome 39 deluxe, then a 1935 painted steel in the original Ford box, and finally a 34 painted steel. Think the painted versions were war years?

Yes, WWII vintage due to critical material restrictions, primarily the nickel content in stainless steel in this case Another example are the cast iron brake and clutch pedal pads rather than rubber over steel.

Thanks David I didn't know that about the pedal pads. I have a pair of the cast pedal pads and they have the 11A part number and Ford script cast into the back.

I have a set of the 39 deluxe caps bought in the 80's. The plating is not the best but I don't see them being reproduced.

Cover of the Australian Sales Brochure showing the 1954 Ford with Red paint on the Hubcaps, when in fact, all the Centres on Hubcaps on Australian Assembled 1954 Fords were painted Black. Go figure?

Sales brochures are usually printed before model year production begins and as a result may not reflect actual production components. While better than nothing, they aren't completely reliable as documentation.

The US built 54 Fords had a opaque Maroon center same as the attached Mercury cap.
