S-10 5 speed in a 53/56 f-100
Anyone , convert their 53/56 F-100 to the popular S-10 5 speed transmission , or any other modern transmission , If so what problems did you encounter, thank you.

The 1953 is a flathead and a lot depends on the type of bell housing is on there. The 54 thru 56 are Y-blocks but they also depend on the type of bell housing and clutch they have.
The bell housings were part of the rear engine/trans aft mounting set up. Mounting can be modified but it depends on how far a person wants to go and what transmission they want to use. Adapters have been made for some applications but not all. |
