Default 1937 sheet metal question

-I see Drake has a 'grille center plate' pn 78-8209. Was this an original piece or a modern version of something he thinks I should buy? I've never seen oe before. Thanks

It is a reproduction of the original.

Early production 1937 Fords did not have 78-8209. Was added in May or June 1937. Details about this piece can be found in the Club's 1937 Ford Book.

I'm interested in an original center grill molding for a 1937 ford pickup. Please call me at 518/573-7447.
Thank you. Tommy Rekemeyer

My car was likely built in April or early May, from what I can tell, this part was an addition after that time. Thanks for the offer. Ernie

I believe I read that someone has a Factory Service Letter that says that panel should be installed on any '37 who's owner requests it. ...That said, those who had the early cars without the panel would not be correct on the Concourse with the panel, unless the invoice indicates it was installed before it left the showroom.
