Re: 1940 1 ton express
Yes, I AM the jailbar guy, But I was hoping to see some pictures of his '40. A lot of enthusiasts think the '40 pickup with it's '40 ford car nose is the best looking of all ford trucks. I am much more involved in the heavy hauling stuff and so I like my trucks to look more 'trucklike' , therefore my favorite ford trucks are the '40 and '41 tonner express like you and Les (expaver)have. I hope to own one someday if I live long enough.

Re: 1940 1 ton express
That is a good looking pickup for sure. I enjoy them more in their 'work clothes' and that looks to be in remarkable condition.

Re: 1940 1 ton express
Hey guys! I finally got a couple pictures put on the ol' lap top to upload. I've been itching to get the pickup back out on the road for the summer! She's got the old helmet style points setup and the carb with the breather tube in the port. I think I just may start by getting a carb kit, plugs and wires and just doing an all around tune up in the process. I found out I'm only about 18 miles from the only Early V-8 Club of America groups in Montana so Ill have to get in the loop with those guys. Any good leads on tune up/carb kits? Thanks again for all the welcomes and info! I hope to have her back on the road soon and keep you all in the loop!

Re: 1940 1 ton express
There it is! My favorite nose... (the one on the truck). What a fine looking pickup your Dad left for you. I have changed many, many of these 7.50 x 17 tires out over the years. I'm 69 years old and did two last week. The best advice on these wheels is get the ford lug wrench with the rim tool on the opposite end. I have one for each tonner I currently drive. The tip fits perfectly in the notch of the ring and is obviously made of kryptonite because it takes a tremendous amount of leverage to start the ring off the wheel. No normal screwdriver or anything else I have found can do this repeatedly and come back for more. Did I say how awesome your pickup is?
