I recently found this forum thru another site. I am living in the warm weather of Arizona (relocated from Seattle) Building a community radio station and living the good life.
I am starting the hunt for a car/truck to restore, which will be a Ford I am looking locally and found a 53-56 F-100 in a 'junkyard" that is privately owned.
The owner is out of town ill and i did not feel comfortable going into the yard. I took this from afar and am trying to determine the year. When he is back home, the tag in in the glove box correct?
Looks like a great group, I am glad to have found it.

The 53, 54, and 55, look the same except for the grille. The 56 has a wrap around windshield. Welcome to the Ford Barn. A fun place to be.

It's a 56 ,the doors are also different on a 56.The 56 was also the first year for 12 volts ,not that you could tell from afar

So it is a 56 It appears to be a short wheel base, but the bolt pattern seems to be larger than 5 on 4 1/2, would it still be a F-100?
I will keep on checking to see if there is anyone there, as the owner is very ill.
Thanks for the input!

I am glad I found this forum, as I am a Ford guy for sure I love to look for old stuff and go exploring. If anyone is looking for a 1930 Fort P/U (rolling chassis) with box, etc, let me know. There is a guy near here that has ALOT of (A & T)
The cab is a 29, sitting on the 30 frame. This is within walking distance and I have more pics. He also has a 49 (?) coupe for sale.

Thanks for the lead, I am looking locally first as transportation can "make or break" a good deal, lol. I have family in Magalia, love it up there.

I did not want to give it a complete look over until I had permission. This F100 looks great actually, no serious issues that I could see. Nice Patina, we call it a "Arizona Suntan"

Looks like you have a great start on it, I hope this owner realizes someone wants to preserve a part of American Iron.

So I got my project truck, introducing Rusty the work truck. $200.00 and this 1972 Ford F100 SWB is mine I will trailer it home soon and take the cab & box off the frame. I am on another forum for this series of F100 (1967-72) and the suspension upgrade is bolting on 2004 Crown Victoria front/rear suspension. The tracking width is close and it gives you 5 on 4 1/2 wheel bolt pattern with 4 wheel disc brakes. I think I may try to get a police auction Crown Vic and use the motor/trans/wiring as well.

Pete, you may want to start your own thread or post in the "Wanted" section.

Might get more responses. Just my 1¢ worth.
