Default Spare Tore Covers from Tebo Barn

When I checked for spare tire covers a while back, everyone seemed to be out of stock. Can anyone confirm that this is not a scam?

Ryan is not a scammer,he is just a serious Model A guy.I have bought a few things from him.I just drive to his house and pick it up.He buys and sells a few parts and cars. There was an article about him driving his A across the country, maybe 5?? or so years ago.The last time I was there he had a bunch of American Classic tires for sale.I don't think those were something he's picked up thopugh,I think he had just become a dealer for them.

He's legit. I believe he recently bought out an old parts supplier that closed up shop a while ago.

He's a great guy and good seller. He picked up a whole bunch of older upholstery related items and is offering them.

Ryan is a great stand-up guy and helpful too. I have purchased a few things from him, most recently a modern rebuilt water pump. Buy with confidence.

He has a nice shop too fixing Model T and Model A and a few antique strays that come threw the door. Ryan hosts an open house in the early spring.

Default Spare Tore Covers from Tebo Barn

I known Ryan is legit, but I’m asking if this ad is legit.

Sorry, I should have provided more detail. The conversation I’m having with what I think to be him is asking me to send payment to [email protected], which does not match the email address on his website, and I am being asked to send payment as friends/family, which does not provide fraud protection from PayPal, if I understand correctly.

When I initially replied to his ad, he was very responsive. However, when I asked for some sort of confirmation that this is really him, I didn’t get a response. That is what is making me wonder if the ad is a scam.

Yes, I recall that article. Great story.

Buyer beware! A different e-mail and special payment...some things too fishy (that is, it stinks) about this! Just my old man opinion.

I always tell them I'll pay the 3% extra to send it for goods and services (so I'm covered). If they balk it's a scam.

Actually, that is what I did—I added 3%.

It turns out that this is Ryan’s email for the tire covers. He sent me a tracking number.

There have been LOTS of scammer complaints in the Model A community in the past. I was just trying to make sure I was actually sending money to Ryan, instead of sending money to someone claiming to be Ryan.

Ryan Is my nephew. This is no Scam. He’s been around Model A’s since he was born. He’s the third generation in our family to have TOCD. (The old car disease)

The OP was NOT asking if Ryan was a scam! He was asking if the AD was a scam. That is a very legit question to ask. Scammers will take a legit, reputable company and spoof their website. They will direct you to send payment to them directly, then when you don't get your merchandise you contact the REAL website owner and they know nothing about the supposed "sale". It has happened to many, many people so you ALL should be careful. There are a lot of scumbags out there. Sounds like this one was legit so that's good. Something similar happened right here on Fordbarn a year or so ago I think.

When I answered the original post I read it that he was asking about Ryan himself, not just the ad.Actually for years when I saw gmail as an address I went the other way.I personally won't use paypal in any form to either sell or buy,no matter how much is offered.Very bad experience with them over 15 years ago soured me on them.I was lucky,I was only out about $600.Found out that Square trade and Buyer protection plus was a joke.

My apology to Ryan or anyone I may have offended, BUT you have to be very careful with whom you deal with on any transaction involving a website. IMO. LRF

You need to use PayPal through a credit card. The credit card company can then contact PayPal and get them to fix it. It's hard to win against PayPal on your own when they have a GDP bigger than most countries.

The only reason i I got stuck for $600.was because the initial payment due at the time of sale was $600,and I used the paypal credit card. The remainder of the money was on my own card, through paypal. My CC company got my money back, from paypal.I really have no idea just wound up holding the bag on that.
