Coil Issues
I have a distributor in my 1926 T, and I seem to have a need to replace my coil about every year. Is this to be expected, or should I look for a problem?

Re: Coil Issues
There is something going on that is not correct. Time for some investigation.

Re: Coil Issues
A lot depends on what the primary coil resistance is and what voltage the cars electrical system has. There is also a need to know if it's a standard points breaker type ignition or an electronic ignition.
6-volt systems can use a 1.5 Ohm primary type coil with no ballast. On 12-volts, either a ballast resistor or a 3-Ohm coil should be used. I still use the Echlin brand coils. Some prefer Bosch coils. Electronic ignitions should use a type of coil that is recommended by the ignition system manufacturer unless testing would prove another type. . |
