Default Purchased a K R Wilson combination machine

Just picked it up today local in South Jersey. I know it's missing a few items. I believe it has the original electric motor.

The poring fixture in middle 2ed picture is Hempy Cooper. Cool find, lets see the combination machine. Thats a sea lion, used for checking straightness of rods. I don't see the piece that the rods mount too in the box.

Spectacular find ! I've seen catalog photos but that's the "real deal" !

Here's a similar machine (Stevens) I have for checking connecting rods.

It was used to bore the cylinders or babbitt mains. The box also contains the tools used to pour the mains.

The only catch is it was all designed to use new Ford parts. So you needed a new crank and new rods. Things we do not have today.

The mains can be done by modifying the boring bar to an adjustable cutter. Or you can just make the boring bar and reamer like .020 undersized and get all the cranks cut to that size.

The cylinder boring parts requires a block with the ridge still there and the bottom of the cylinder close to std. The centering jigs needed these to be factory to properly center. If they have been cut then all bets are off. So they are of limited use.

The oil groove tools and the rear main facing tools are very functional. Along with the pouring molds and peening tool. So some tools in the kit are more decorations and others are very very functional and should be used.

A little aside. If you read the catalog you will find the babbitt pot burner is special. It looks different then other burners you find and that is because it need to be hotter. To do the babbitt right it needs to melt fast and be kept fairly hot (when doing proper Ford babbitt mix).

Found the serial number 302 this is an early one. I know they made at least 3000 of these. This was made for model t's so you have to use the 1/8th inch riser plates for the A. Anyone else have an earlier serial number

You can get a good reprint of a KRW catalog from The Model A Ford Works in Portland, OR. Contact redmodelt here on the forum.
