Default gas pedal height of floor board?

I have a stock gas pedal assembly on a 37 pickup, am putting an Edelbrock slingshot type manifold on with two 97 carbs. looking for where the gas pedal should at idle so I can make up a new and shorter linkage.

I know what you are saying... My tonner panel and 1/2 ton woodie are basically stock, but lots of floor mat/ welded in steel floor stuff and heat insulation... What if I have lots more pedal available but the spoon is hitting the floor too soon? We need some schooling on this subject. Thanks

The top of my gas peddle to the floor is 2” probably around 2 1/2” to the bare floorboard.

If you are using a stock gas peddle, the spring in the stock accelerator assembly returns the peddle to the idle position once you take you foot off the peddle. The stock linkage that connects the accelerator assembly to the carburetor was originally designed to be level with your carburetor to allow full and smooth travel - Idle to full open. Using an slingshot manifold raises the carburetors and I personally had issues getting full travel as well as a smooth foot action when driving because of the change in geometry with the linkage not being level with the carburetor.

I solved my issue with using a flex cable and copper tubing that I lined with some plastic water tubing I found at the hardware store. The throttle geometry works correctly now. I get full travel and the throttle response is smooth. Here is a picture of the setup I used. I’m running Holley 94’s so I know that the 97’s are a little different, but this might help with some ideas for your installation.

You can also add a turn buckle to the rod to fine tune. I don't have pictures.

And where did you manage to locate the super rare P&WA fuel pressure regulator?

I see you know a Wasp Junior Fuel Controller when you see it. Something had to tame all those 420hp engines! Don’t think I’ve ever seen another one like it on a Flathead.
