Re: Georgia Junkyard Tour
That was fabulous! Thanks for posting! Not many of those yards around anymore due to environmental laws.

Great photos, neat cars and artful spelling on the signs.

Re: Georgia Junkyard Tour
This could have been taken in Tabernacle, NJ. The last time I was there I tried to buy a 1938 Ford Truck windshield wiper motor with a bent shaft and frozen motor. The going rate for these in semi working order is $5 around here, but they wanted $45. Needless to say I left and haven't been back. When the grad father owned the yard you could get deals. The son and son in law took over after his death, and now the grand son(s). have taken over. I hear that they now have a sign to negotiate for the part before you take it off. I guess there was a pile of junk building up from disgusted buyers who didn't agree on the golden prices that were being handed out. These junk yards could do a thriving business if the owners didn't think that all their parts were gold and the old car owners were lighting their cigars with $100 dollar bills.

Re: Georgia Junkyard Tour
too many people think their cars are worth their weight in gold or "I'm gonna fix them some day". then the cars end up rotting away. what a waste!

Re: Georgia Junkyard Tour
I think it's great. Nothing there is worth dragging away and people get the experience. I don't personally think every old car needs to be saved or parted out. This is history and it wouldn't be the same if the carcasses were all scavenged of any usable trim or tin.

Re: Georgia Junkyard Tour
Old Car City is owned by my cousin Dean. It is operated as a museum and is a very interesting place to visit. I don't think that he sells any parts any more.

Re: Georgia Junkyard Tour
I grew up in east Texas, and pine needles are the worst. Seem to rot a car from the inside out. But it was neat to see them.
