It's not the washer, it's the valve. You can buy the right one from Charlie's Speed in Fla. www.charliesspeed.com. the new valves are not machined correctly. Charlie buys them in bulk and removes the radius from the shank.

rustedorrotting nailed it , newer style power valves have a radius at the base and wont seat correctly .

The incorrect radius on the new Power (Economizer) Valves has been known for so long now, any rebuilder who fails to re-machine to a flat surface more than likely drives a Brand X.

Hey planojc,
Have you tried using 2 fiber washers to compensate for the radius underneath? I had good luck with that approach; at least for the time being .

I've found that the carb kits from Walker for the 94 type carbs has power valves that work as is. They don't have the step that causes an issue. Been doing carbs with them for years with no comlaints.

The plastic washers will sometimes seal better than the paper type.

Update. The PV i'm using was a new one from Vintage speed and has no radius but using the round fiber washer, also from Vintage Speed it leaks. I tried the nylon washer and it worked much better but after several hours with the bowl full, the PV was wet on the bottom but not dripping.

I'm not surprised considering the source. Listen to "scicala" on here or get a power valve from Charlie Scwendler in New York to make sure you get quality parts.
