Default Red's headers,Brockman "mellowtones"

Just finnished putting a Red's Headers-Brockman's Mellowtone[steel pack] muffler on my 46 Merc.convert.The headers fit in with no problems, the exaust pipes required a bit of "tweeking' with a tourch. The mufflers sound great ,just loud enough to make a "powered with a FLATHEAD"statement.I ordered the mufflers from fellow barner VanPelt and recieved them In 2 days[wish Mac's would be as quick]I replaced a cobbeled together exaust that was a little to loud for my taste.Phil

That combo sounds good doesn't it? I agree with: "just loud enough to make a powered with a FLATHEAD"statement. Is this the same car you took to Maine?

I have that combo on my 1939 pickup and what a sweet sound it produces! I get compliments from people that don't even know what a flathead ford engine is.

Red's is one of those places that sells a quality product and is always great to deal with. I got theire header and duals kit for my F-1, but got the Smithy's instead. They sound pretty good, but I think I'd go with the Brockmans or the Porters for the next project.

The pipe size is 13/4".Yes it is the car I drove in Maine. The kit came with Smitthys,I used one of them on my 41 S/W.So I decided to try the Brockmans. I have Smithys on my 36 and they aree just OK.The brockmans have a crisper sound than the smithys.Phil

I have heard 1 3/4" pipes are more than adequate for flow and that the smaller pipe size allows for a better flathead sound. Anyone have opinions about pipe size? Thanks, jack

Had that combo on my 42 for 9 years. Every one tells me how great they sound.

There is a couple of youtube videos with brockman mellowtones. One is titled "53 Ford starting" another is a 40 ford coupe, the name of the clip escapes me at the moment. The 53 really raps the pipes.

That's one nice Flathead. Sounds great.. The chrome looks great, didn't know you could chrome the radiator water pipes. I am thinking of making my 53 F100 a little louder at some point.
Nice House, to!
