Default Street Cam

Throwing in the towel and going with a new cam and lifters, too many questions about what is in there now. I’m looking for advice about what cam to go with (I know this is an old topic but humor me). 270 CI approx 9.5:1, Red’s headers, Carter 4 barrel carb, Charlie’s SBC Dizzy. Needs to be streetable but got to have “The Sound” (unfortunately I live in an area with traffic). BTW, 3 speed 3:08 gears. I know that there are one or two cams that get all the love for street use but I don’t know for sure which ones they are. I know O’l Ron has one he likes.

Kiwi 100 or Isky 1007B would be my choice

Depending on what it's going into, I'd reconsider the 3.08 gears. Maybe on a very light roadster, but not for anything heavier. Makes a difference in which cam you go with as well. The whole thing has to be a compatible system that works together.

If you ONLY drive the freeways, keep the 3.08's and go with the L100. Mediocre gas mileage though.

If you keep the 3.08's, I can't recommend anything that you will enjoy.

As a side note, if you get in a street drag race and lose, you can tell the other guy truthfully that you are at a disadvantage because you have your Bonneville gears in.

I have the schneider 248F in my 39 sedan. It has the little bump rumble at idle and drives out really nice. It comes in a .320 and .350 lift.
Their web site shows where the active power range is. So it is easy to pick the profile of how you drive.

I think the max 1 is avery good street cam , but any cam with 220 deggs or less and 350 lift works well. Here you have max torque in the driving range and the mileage is pretty good

I also have the Schneider 248f in my '41 coupe with a 284 inch 59a/b engine. Plenty of low end for my 3.25 gears in a fairly heavy car. Very driveable in traffic and on the Interstate. Not a loping idle but a very nice burble.
