Question horn rod stuck

My 29 tudor has me baffled. my light switch will turn about 190 degrees before anything happens at the spider end. The spider is good shape. But I cannot pull the rod out but about 8 inches or so.My only guess id that the rod is broken somewhere down the tube and is hanging up on something . My question is has anyone experienced this. I will be taking the steering box out anyway for a refurb. The only way I could guess a rod would get broken is if the switch was forced to go around in a circle. any thoughts?

Sounds like a plausable guess. As long as your 100% sure you have the spider clip spider and spring removed it should just slip out. Probably the switch got stuck for some reason and instead of NOT forcing it anymore someone jammed it one way or the other and twisted the horn rod off...
