Default I saw the Iowa Governor's Model A Pickup for sale

I saw this 1929 open pickup at today's swap meet. It has a rebuilt engine with a serial number for mid 1930. I was wondering if the truck really has under 5000 miles, why did the engine need to be replaced? Also why the plated headlamps? It was a very nice pickup though and has nice original seat upholstery.

That's what I thought, so I asked him and he said less then 5000 on the truck. I should have looked it over better, but I didn't even get all the swap covered before the sellers were packing up and leaving. I should have come 2 hours earlier and shopped by flashlight, like many others do.

if its an estate truck it could have never left the grounds except for a rare errand to the store to pick up whatever may be needed. So it spent most of the engines life at idle or driving very short distances. or since its that old the engine may have just been locked up hard or mice got into it. Or some grounds keeper blew it up...

we have an old 92 ford f250 work truck with about 50K on it. used to travel between area plants but most of its life literally drives across the property and may see 8 miles a month if that.
