Default Need brakes? Call Randy

Made a round trip to Montebello to see Randy Gross this morning to get my brakes squared away. New drums, new shoes, rear seals, and he sold me a good front hub since I had one with a spun bearing race. And he even gave me a tour of his shop. Then he pulled up a chair and said sit down and get comfortable. Well I could not do that, so i just stood and watched him do his thing. I can see an F-1 steering box in my future also. A great guy to deal with and a great way to spend a Saturday morning. Now to paint them and pull up a chair and watch my wife install them. Well,,,,,,,,maybe not. Thanks Randy for a good morning.

Those moments are some of the best! I have an old grist mill in WV that I stop at every summer and sit outside and talk to the gentleman who owns/runs the mill. Been in his family over 100 years. He still grinds buckwheat and if you have never had buckwheat pancakes you have missed something. Sometime in the near future the "bride" and I are going out west in the RV and hope that maybe I can stop by and see Randy!

I just boxed 4 hubs and shoes and sent them today to Randy. His quality and responsiveness is very good.
Cost: I have it in my notes the cost is about $400 for a set of 4 mounted drums, turned and 8 relined shoes, 20 new wheel studs. Return shipping is extra. These prices were from 2016 or late 2015. I expect this year's pricing may be a little more.
Good Day!

Correction: See Randy's entry below regarding cost.

I think that is a better question for Randy to answer.

Art, I seen yours when I was there. I almost tripped over them. Randy was getting ready to go to work on them when I left. I am not sure if people realize how much work he puts in to these.

After talking to Randy, I figure I will have over $1K in the job by the time I pay freight to and from Alaska. That was suppose to happen over this past winter, but I lost my garage space due to a kitchen remodel. It will happen for sure after this summer season.

I have been watching but not posting on the forum ever since someone slammed my dad and the product and services that he provided. He had been involved in the Model A world for numerous years and was extremely knowledgeable about them. He started selling parts and servicing vehicles as a passion and courtesy to the local club members and it just ballooned to a worldwide customer base. With his departure, I have continued to do what he left off. I have the same passion as he did but I am limited myself to being the best that I can within certain products and services. These being brakes and modern steering systems.
Our product and services are equal to any out there. With this being said, here is a more specific breakdown on the parts and labor that you read or have seen above.

Brake drums $65.00 each
Wheel studs 1.00 each
Relined brake shoes 60.00 set of 4 shoes - Exch - Modern bonded lining
Relined emergency bands
