Default Replace rear motor mounts

Is it possible to change the rear motor mounts one at a time with the motor in the car and no frame spreader?

It is a toss up. When I reinstalled my engine in 2020, I didn’t need a spreader.

Can it be done.......sure, but I don't think that you'll ever want to do it that way again.

I've done it. Lots of lube and mallets.

A small bottle jack and 2X4 is all that is needed to spread the frame enough to do the job easily.

I have changed the rear engine mounts in my A's a few times, and it was not necessary to spread the frame.

I did a comparison between an original set of Engine Rear Support Cushions A-5092 Inner and A-5094 Outer that were made by Firestone. The Firestone cushions were laminated rubber with a one ply cloth inner layer. The original Firestone cushions are thinner than the rubber reproductions. So I abrade some rubber off of the thickness of the inner reproduction cushions, about 1/16" to 3/32".

You can see the original Firestone Cushions on Vince Falter's Ford Garage https://www.fordgarage.com/pages/aen...rtcushions.htm

That is good to know. I have several bottle jacks and pieces of 2x4 in my garage. But I don't own a frame spreader.

What are the two points you’re using to brace against?
