Default Coil Question

My father inlaw has a depot hack style T with what may be a 1915 +- motor. The motor has been changed from the coil box to a distributor. The spark seems to be weak and a yellow color and the motor will not start. It will fire a couple of times and thats all. He feels that he has it in time.

He was told that a T without a coil box needs a hotter coil. Any ideas on where to start to get better fire and on the road? Thanks........................

If you are using a modern style distributor use a modern style coil that matches the battery voltage

Dirty points or a weak condenser can cause this type of trouble as well.

Bad condenser or the coil is hooked up backwards.
