Default Front end shim? anyone tried one?

I saw a reference about a front end shim from Lang's. It bolts behind the bellpulley and bolts down holding the crankshaft forward until a rear main can be rebuilt & rebabbitted. Anyone heard or seen these in use, if they are any good? I know that a rebuilt engine is best- just asking.

Thanks,
Jim from IL

My engine had one before I rebuilt it. Not sure if it was needed though.

It probably was sold by Manny, Moe, or Jack, out of their PEP BOYS store. It would keep the magnets close to the coil for good ignition.
