Default Offset piston in a 59 AB

So a 59AB I’ve been messing with has offset piston ,( all new) The crank has floaty rod bearings. Don’t know the history other then it was just rebuilt by unknown
Motor was overheating . I’ve pulled rust and clay out of the block, enough to fill
A peanut butter jar.
EveryThing been decked and harden valve seat .
Balance crank /Max 1 .Odd the block was cleaned

My question has anyone seen offset pistons in a 59AB
Advantage or dilemma

It´s just part of the evolution...ford went there with the 8BA.
No reason not to use them as it´s what´s commonly on the shelf theese days.

I think they were to reduce piston noise.

Cleaning, as in dunking in a solution, does little to remove the crud from the water jackets as you found out. It take physical prodding, scraping, and poking to remove it. A bake blast cleaning and dunking are needed to really clean all that stuff out.

Good think you got it and please report back if the operating temp. improves.

My engine was sandblasted through all the water jacket holes, cleaning the factory sand and aftermarket rust. I can cruise down the interstate at 65 MPH in the summer and it will show about 170 degrees on the gauge.
