Taylor Engine
Is Taylor Engine still in business? I have left voicemail and not received a return call.

Re: Taylor Engine
If you are referring to the one in the Los Angeles area the owner passed away. The story I remember is that the wife sold the business to one of the employees and that is the last I heard. It was definitely a good shop but I don't know what is happening now. The last number I had for them is (562) 698-XXXX but I am sure it is no longer valid.

Re: Taylor Engine
I am looking for Taylor Engine in Whittier, CA. Jay Steele was the owner who passed. The number I have is (562) 698 7231. I get their voice mail and leave my number but no one returns my call.

Re: Taylor Engine
I finally got him to answer the phone. He doesn't sound like he is looking for business. He said it would take him six months to a year to get around to building the engine.

Re: Taylor Engine
Well, they might just be really busy and honest about the wait time. How many threads are there that start off "well they told me three weeks and charged my credit card and now it's two years later and they won''t answer my e-mails?"?

Re: Taylor Engine
My engine was rebuilt by Taylor engine before Jay Steel passed away. I spoke briefly to Chris (the new owner who also used to work for Jay) at the San Diego MARC meet several years ago. I know when my engine was rebuilt it took 6 - 7 months. Jay always had a lot of work in his shop (probably because his work was so good), and had a reputation for taking his time with the rebuilds but did a great job on them. I am very happy with my engine. I understand Chris moved the business from Whittier to Brea a few years ago.

Re: Taylor Engine
Hopefully they still have all the equipment to do all the model A and Flathead V8's.
Jay did my Main Bearing Girdles for my Dragster Engines. 296 Supercharged Flathead V8's!
