I would suggest taking all 4 plugs out and squirting some oil into the cylinders before turning it over. The cylinders could probably use the oil. If you start with just one and another is full of water you could bend the crank. The engine will probably need a rebuild if the cylinder is full of water but no need to ruin the crank.

Last time I looked Sam's Club still had 6 volt batteries if not try Tractor Supply I am sure they will have them and I would think most parts stores could get one from their battery supplier. You might be surprised what parts are still avaiable for these old Fords from NAPA, etc.

Thanks everybody. I will FINALLY be able to get pictures up this weekend.

Unless I am real lucky, I will probably spend the weekend making long lists of parts to be bought or rebuilt then be camped on Dick's door step next Monday morning at 9...LOL

Will definately take the slow safe route and do the preoiling and compression check. Anyone know what normal compression is for a four?

Jim,

You might also want to check out Renners corner for distributor, fuel pump, and carb parts and kits.

Jim,
When to go to DMV to transfer the title let them know you are a person who has an interest in restoring old cars. Ask them politely if they can arrange to have this "OLD" title returned to you. Sometimes this can happen. Roger

Roger,
From all I have researched Massachusetts did not require titles untill 1972. I know my uncle only got a bill of sale in 1959, Not sure there is anything else till 70's.

When you go to car, take an extra person with you to take pictures . Only happens once. Good luck.

Paul,

My dad and his friend (who has a flatbed car hauler) got it out this week. I told him to take pictures and he did. Haven't seen them yet. Going up tomarrow. As far as I can tell the car spent its entire life in the Berkshires. I am also hoping my cousin comes up with older pictures of my uncle with the car.

What holds the Choke Cable in the carburator? My dad went to take it off and cant see how to disconnect it. I don't see how in the service manual either.

Jim,

It has been a while but if I remember correctly it just slips out once you remove the clip that holds the choke cable to the manifold.

OK... here it is on the trailer and some other shots. pretty solid but was repainted in 63. So far looks like I need both taillight brackets. The gas tank needs to come off and get cleaned (can you do this without lifting the body), obviosly the cloth in the interior is ratty but its there. The floor boards for the front and the air cleaner are there, just not on the car. Car rolls and brakes work...kinda. We are going to rebuild the carb (and other prep work) before we try to start it.

Yes it looks like a heater. I assume the two hoses shown going through the firewall in the previous post connect to it which would confirm it is a heater. The hose is probably in a loop (in two places) because the heater core leaked. As we say in California, who needs a heater anyway? The emergency brake handle looks stock with an aftermarket accessory (by Fulton?) to make it easier to operate.

There was no heater available from Ford in 1932.

Got the carb rebuilt and on the car. Will pull plugs tomarrow and preoil. We are going to set up a small gas tank to try and get it started. The tank in it looks gunked up. I haven't crawled under it yet, can we get it off without lifting the body?

I was stumped on the seat pattern till I pulled the back seats out. Looks like it was covered over the mohair?
