Transmission Gear Ratios
I need to find out the gear ratios for the "A" 3-speed transmission and the "AA" 4-Speed transmission.

Re: Transmission Gear Ratios
In high gear they are both 1 to 1.

Re: Transmission Gear Ratios
Gear A 29t 28t 26t 25t
1st 3.12 3.11 2.82 2.327 2.12 2nd 1.85 1.77 1.607 1.576 1.44 3rd 1 to1 1 to1 1 to1 1 to 1 1 to1 Chart above shows ratios for passenger cars, Model A, the other numbers are the tooth count on V8 cluster gears. Sorry, the chart didn't transfer as perfectly. Chart is from my 4-banger book. |

Here is a post by 1955cj5, a few years back. Would your truck have had a 3-speed originally? You do not gain much on ratios... 1st is 6:4 in the 4 speed 2nd is 3:09 in the 4 vs 3:12 in the 3-speed 1st gear 3rd is 1:69 in the 4 vs 1:85 in the 3-speed 2nd gear high gear, 4th and 3rd respectively are both 1:1
