Need Sedan Seat Carriage Diagram
Good Morning to all. I am needing to replace my front seat carriage in my '30 Murray Fordor having just been hit with a theft/chopping of the car. No problem in buying new the four springs and wood for the lower sets though wood for the upper springs I have not found for the rear and don't recall if the front had any.
Big problem is the front carriage. Thinking I could build it by using eighth inch plywood layers bending them around and gluing to layer underneath, maybe adding steel sheeting to the top. I once had to rebuild the lower wood in the one I had using 3/4 inch plywood. Thinking the Briggs and Murray to have used the same seat and this was a common one of the two in the later years with back toe recess. Does anyone know where I could get a diagram/template? Better yet where I could find an original or anyone making a reproduction? Thanks, Greg |

Hard to figure what exactly you are referring to. Can you post pics of the area?
Real interested in the "theft/chopping of the car" story.

Keith,
I only wish I had something left of the seat to post a pic of. They broke in and took all seats among other things. I can buy new the four springs assemblies but know not where to get the front seat carriage which houses the backrest cushion and the seat cushion. Greg |

Re: Need Sedan Seat Carriage Diagram
So they broke into your '30 Murray Fordor and stole your seat?
No true Model A'er would do that, sounds like a rat rodder, not saying that all rat rodders are scum, but apparently one of them is. Out here in the sticks of Oklahoma, if I was to catch a person like that, I'll just say that... Not even God would find his bones

Re: Need Sedan Seat Carriage Diagram
Sorry to hear that happened to you.
Here is a link to a site with extensive pictures of the restoration of a 1930 Town Sedan (altho it is a Briggs). I hope some of the pictures can help you see what you need. https://www.fordmodela.com/restoration/body/interior/ Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 08-17-2019 at 11:40 PM. |

Re: Need Sedan Seat Carriage Diagram
Break ins and thefts are something that happens when folks post their name and address on social media.
Thieves then know model of the car that you have and where to find the car and any tools that you have in the garage. This is one reason why I don't use my real name on forums. Forty years ago using the telephone book the thieves found names posted on the bulletin boards and knew where they could steal a $4000 COMPUTER. Last edited by Benson; 08-19-2019 at 09:27 AM. |

Re: Need Sedan Seat Carriage Diagram
I have a '30 Murray Fordor and can take pics/measurements of whatever you need. Busy this week so it may be a little while before I get the time but just keep bugging me if I forget to post back here.

There are also these guys, they don't list the Murray Fordor on their product catalog, but it might be worth a call to see if they have anything.

Re: Need Sedan Seat Carriage Diagram
Sounds great guys. I will call the wood products people and the pics with measurements would be huge to me. If I do have to make it my nephew has a great idea to let the kids in his high school vo-tech shop class do it as they have students who are already very good and all of the machinery to bend and form sheet metal.
Many thanks, Greg |

Re: Need Sedan Seat Carriage Diagram
I just reread your post and saw you have the front seat carriage with a toe recess. Mine doesn’t have one. I’ll still get a bunch of measurements, but they might not be perfect.
Have you seen this? https://www.classtiqueupholstery.com...nd_C_Sedan.pdf |
