Default installing heater hose fitting

going to install a metal heater hose adaptor/fitting into the front lower radiator hose. other than making a nice tight hole does one use any type of sealer on the flat surfaces

thanks a bunch

I always apply Indian Head Shellac available at Napa (about $2). Be certain to follow directions.
This stuff has been around for decades for good reason.

Also, I believe it was "Kube" who told me when I asked, angle it towards the fender, NOT verticle, so the fan doesn't hit the hose.

Last one I installed was probably 15 years ago, I might have put some RTV on there if I recall. It probably doesn't really need anything. It's still been leak free.

Choose a hole punch that creates a nice round snug fitting to the pipe. You can experiment on a flat piece of rubber like an old radiator hose, inner tube or something to find the right punch if you have one of those sets that goes from maybe 1/8 to 3/4 inch. I haven't had one of those ever leak without a sealant but the Indian Head Shellac is a good idea.

When I put mine in I made sure the hole was a tight fit and didn't use anything else. Has never leaked

Here is photo of the orientation on a V8 85 '40 Ford. The fan clears the hose by about 3/8", and the fitting angle makes for gradual bed in the heater hose.

Use a step drill to drill the hose and permatex2 to seal the parts and threads. Works very well.

Thanks all

Good ideas, some times the “simplest” appearing jobs can have the most complicated process.
