Elco Twin Spark Plug Cylinder Heads (1939 to 1948)

// Elco Twin Spark Plug Cylinder Heads (1939 to 1948)

Primarily designed for use on 1939 to 1948 Ford flathead V8 engines. May also be used on 1949 to 1953 Ford flathead V8 engines, subject to minor modification. One of the best flowing flathead V8 cylinder heads ever produced! ELCO cylinder heads require the use of a Vertex style angle drive to accommodate a 1929 to 1941 Nash Twin 8 Distributor for ignition purposes. Ford 8BA flathead front timing cover may also be used. Please inquire for details. Compression ratio: 8.25 to 1.

Andy....You better have that Nash 16-pole distributor in your hands before you go dropping big bucks on a pair of those heads, 'cuz those Nash dizzies are even harder to find than soft lips on a chicken. DD

There's a guy in Australia (or maybe New Zealand) who makes a front cover that will run two post distributors. Granted, you will need to use a later model cam, but I bet it will be much easier than finding a the Nash distributor. The way he does it (electronically) is very clever, and from all I can see, should work well and be foolproof. He had a thread on the H.A.M.B. a couple of years ago.

DD, no I am not interested in going this route. I saw it for the first time and was seeking to learn.

Stay healthy!
