What would make a Model A Transmission lock in High Gear?

Re: Model A Transmission
If you had it apart you may have missed the groove on the gear when you reinstalled the tower. Any recent work?

Re: Model A Transmission
I had shifted it a few times in all gears and it seemed fine. Then it locked in high after a short run.

So, the transmitter has been apart recently ?
Remove the tower and have a look see. |

Re: Model A Transmission
The half inch round ball on the end of the shifter may be worn square along with wear in the slots of the shifting forks. This can allow the shifter to become disengaged from the forks.

Fork can be bent, gap too wide for notch in shifter fork. Tom endy's write up covers a first class rebuild procedure. |
