I got a chance to drive a lap in the 32 dump truck, that was fun.

I also noticed this clever method of preventing someone from breaking your hood on a 38 Ford.

I think this is a very early V8 Club badge, but I'm not sure.

I got a chance to take this picture of my car next to the restored Futureliner that was being displayed at the National Auto & Truck Museum.

The banquet and awards ceremony took place in the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum, and we walked out to this spectacular late evening light streaming through the front windows.

The driver of this 40 convertible and trailer combo from Colorado won the longest driven award. I am aware of at least four early Fords including this one that were driven over 1,000 miles to the Central National Meet.

The differential in my 53 broke in interesting ways in Indianapolis. Thanks to some exceptional V8ers we were back on the road ten hours after it broke. I think the story will be in the V8 Times.

Back on the road with everything buttoned up.

Somewhere in Mississippi the odometer rolled over to 76,000 miles. This isn't accurate for the car since it is the second speedometer I have had in it, but it is fun to see.

Back in Texas!

I got home on Sunday during daylight, went to work on Monday.

Love all the original cars with their patina.

Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to put on this meet. We drove out from the west coast in Fords, but they were F-150's. Had a great time and had the chance to see all our friends from the east and mid-west. The newest building at the museum is very impressive. The Foundation has come a long way in a relative short period of time. We were on the road for almost 3 weeks and happy to get home. It was a memorable time in Auburn.

Tom,

Great to see you and Pam, along with Dave and Carol. They seem to enjoy their new "retirement."

I still think your grille will buff out.

Ken

Ken, just got a quote of $3600 to fix it. I suspected it would be between $3000-$4000. Glad it wasn't the old '40 Ford that needed to be fixed! Great time and thanks to you and Carolyn for all your hard work.

Tom,
When I saw it, it looked to me that you were trying to copy the Torino Talledaga. Sloped nose, with large air dam. It must have run a lot cooler on the way home with the bumper directing the air into the radiator.

Really sorry about it, but I still say you should have gotten some venison jerky out of the deal.

Oh yea, you should be glad that it wasn't a buffalo.

Bruce, when it got in front of the pickup it did look as big as a buffalo!

Here we are 12 days after the meet and I still have a sour taste in my mouth after what happened to me. I drove my 33 DeLuxe Tudor 400 miles RT to the meet, enjoyed the great performance of my car. I was informed five days after the meet I forfeited an award because I left the concourse early, around 1pm, without permission. I understand the spirit of the rule but at that moment my only thought was to get back to the safety of my hotel room due to a sensitive medical issue with my prostate. I was told Judges spoke among themselves asking if anyone knew why I left early. I wonder why someone just didn’t ask me? I had texted one of the Judges several times previous to concourse day so my number was readily available. My activities were limited during the meet as it was because I couldn’t stray to far from my hotel room due to my condition. I was on the concourse from 7:30am til 1 and that was pushing it. As I said, having prostate issues is not something I just go around talking about. Lesson learned for the next National Meet.

Tim, a medical condition certainly sounds like a legitimate reason to leave the Concourse before the 3PM release. You say that the Judges made an effort to determine why you left, and finding no reason, they had to follow the rules and disqualify you. Had you communicated your reason prior to that decision being made, rather than to let the chips fall where they may, I'm sure you would be a happy camper today.

True Alan. As I said though, the urgency was to get back to my room. I guess I should have contacted someone once the emergency was over.
