I was looking this over, and would like to add something. One of the guys in my local chapter is quite the officianado of Ford cars up through the late 1950s. He showed us a point by point comparison of the Model-A vs the Chevy. Oh my gosh !!! No wonder the Ford was a strong seller. Yes I know the A's were a bit late to the party for modern features like paint colors. However, the Model-A was a far superior value buy. It sure has outlasted the Chevys by far.

I saw the result of one. This was back in the 60's and I was driving my Model A coupe home to San Diego from college in San Luis Obispo. I stopped at a gas station along highway 101 and the operator said the station was closed because of a fire started by a Model A. Back then there were still wooden gas stations and this was one of them. The gas gauge on the Model A was leaking and a spark from the ignition switch caught the fumes and leaking gasoline on fire and that caught the rest of the car on fire and that caught the station on fire.

Regardless of the observations about the model and year, I can tell you that my dad traveled from Chile to the USA in a model A from the late 1960s, 40,000 miles in 2 years; with this background, I think it's fantastic.

The 1928-29 screw-on radiator cap and gas cap bug me. They are sometimes hard to get started threading. The 1/4 turn style of the 1930-31 cars is so much easier. Obviously Ford figured that out and changed for 1930.
My cast iron style fuel sediment bowls all seem to weep gas; Once I get the gasket in the glass bowl style properly and get it snug, they stay dry for a long time. Not a fan of the cast iron ones. The headlight wire connectors on each headlight were not a good design. They work OK when everything is new, but with time, as things vibrate and loosen up, and from years of removal and reassembly, they are prone to bad connections and internal shorts. All in all I think it is a well designed and well engineered car that has stood the test of time.
