The glass top does not look like it belong there.

My folks had a 54 Ford wagon with a "glass" roof, I think it was in 59 or 60. I was way too young to figure out if it was factory or custom aftermarket. Ford did the hood plexiglass in 54, possible the glass roof too on a wagon?

No family photos of the car? Now that would have been something.

Now the hood was not an actual assembly part. It was issued by FORD to dealers to show the buyer the new FYB on the showroom floor. Dealers had to take/buy them, and it wasn't supposed to be sold with the car. It was to be re-used. If it needed a color change, the dealer had to eat it.

Here is a photo of a '54. Looks tells me a retro-fit would have been a lot easier that a later '55/56 CROWN SKYLINER.

Now I am wondering if the owner put a '54 roof panel (plexiglass) on the SW?

Family photos? No, farm life was not seen to be "photogenic" in those days. Photos were high school graduation and Christmas. My sister has the box of photos (she is the keeper of family history) so I will go through it next time we are in WI.

Dad got the wagon because the family grew and it was too cold in the winter for us older kids to ride in the bed. Always had V-8 powered cars, always had a pickup and lets not forget the John Deere .....

Interesting board rack on the Ranch Wagon. Permanent mount?
