Ordered the 10th. Shipped on the 20 won't arrive till the 27th......I'm just disappointed that it didn't ship as fast as other orders I have placed.....No big deal. I'll be ordering again.

I placed an order on 2/9 and called on 2/21 to inquire about delivery. The person that I spoke to checked and said the order was still at their location and would be UPS mailed that afternoon. Today 2/24 the UPS truck drove past my house without so much as a wave. Job Lot gets me an order by UPS the next day if I order in the AM, I get the delivery in 24 hours I haven't bought from Carpenter for some time, but when I restored my Cushman it was the same delivery schedule. Maybe they are having economy problems and won't be with us much longer.

I've ordered from Macs in the past with no problems but not for 5 years or so. Carpenters was my choice 20yrs ago when I did my first coupe ( everything done by snail mail then). Service was top rank so have things changed there? More recently been dealing with C&G in Ca ( Pacific coast to Pacific country shipping route) . Placed an order 3 weeks ago for some new body mounts when I had the chassis rail fixed. Arrived in 7 days...pretty good for International I think. Never had a "bum" deal from them ever. I would still use Macs, helpful people when I last dealt with them. I have used the "duck man " in Washington State too with indifferent service but to give him his dues when a large order was going to cost a bomb in shipping he contacted me to see if I still wanted to proceed with the order. I guess we all have to be a bit tolerant at times. When the same problem keeps happening I it is time to consider options and vent to the vendor. If they don't lift their game, they loose in the end.

Thanks for posting. The above statement is not true. Your company just shipped me a pair of 1932 hood handles that were on back order. Meanwhile, I ordered them elsewhere to finish the project. When I called after receiving an email about it already being shipped, I was told to send them back (at my expense). So now I'm going to be out another $7 and trip time and gas that I could have saved if someone had actually contacted me before shipping a back ordered part. Sincerely, Chad

Have always had good service from MAC's. Will assume, until proven otherwise, that this is a temporary "glitch" in their system. With regard to reaching upper management, I've had a couple of occassions to sell cores to MAC's. When I called the number listed in their catalog for dealing with cores, I've been connected to Randy (Macintosh) himself. Seems like a good man who's interested in his business and his customers. At least we now know that the business - in the person of Darlene - monitors this site and, hopefully, other sites as well. If they weren't interested, I doubt that they'd bother. FWIW

I've placed quite a few orders with Mac's over the last few years. I've always placed the orders online as it's easier when there's a six or seven hour time difference, and usually to take advantage of one of their discount offers (which helps to offset the hefty shipping and import charges we get hit with). They email confirmations, and to give me options if anything is on back order, so I've been generally very happy.
The only thing that has given me some concern is that since a website upgrade or something, the overseas shipping is always estimated at something like 50% of the order value! This is disconcerting when placing the order, but each time the actual shipping costs have been much less (I generally avoid ordering things like pickup beds and try and keep the overall weight down). |

The point that some of the happy customers miss is that it is nothing noble about a vendor being able to do well with nearly all of their customers, but to know how to make it right when it is obvious that they have screwed up an order. Not happen to you? Well that's just Great! But for Mac's to sit there and lie to a customer when an occasional flaw in the system is found and send them as they did me to the dead zone (voice mail) where a response is not likely to happen in a timely manner and the customer is motivated to call a few times a day hopeing to get a truthful or even frank answer. Finally someone slips out the truth about a bungeled order and it all becomes clear that the staff misinformed the customer early on and the Mac's system would rather leave that customer wondering what's really up with those guys. Darlene from Mac's comes on the Barn and gives the issue a little lick and the chorus of supporters may as well have said that it never happens to them so.. What the problem with those that may not have been as well served? I Have seen what they really do with problems. They disrespect the customers as trouble makers and just bury their heads until the order is filled and that's the end of it. It is only fair that a potential customer know that an order can be held for reasons that are most convenient to the vendor but leaves that customer wondering what happened. Good Luck: Fred A

I'm still nervous about ordering. I have to drive a completely disassembled car in 6 weeks to a show and may decide to order elsewhere after hearing your concerns. I've scheduled days off from work and don't want to be sitting doing nothing while waiting on parts that are on the shelf everywhere else.
Spring is quickly approaching and people are wanting to get their cars on the road. I'm also working side by side with a friend trying to do the same thing. He placed a Mac's order that took 2 weeks to arrive. When he placed a second order, he paid more for rush shipping, which took the same time or longer to arrive. He was not very happy about it, but his boss was paying for it, so he just blew it off and didn't complain. He did spread the word though.

I received my order today. I know it's my fault...... Only got one engine mount. Now looking back it said you need to order 2.....Stupid stupid stupid. So you guys had my order for 10 days and no one thought to check that I only needed 1 engine mount. And you are 33% more expensive then the competitors that sell them in pairs.....I will no longer do business with Mac's and will tell everyone I can to avoid them at all cost. I woudn't even have ordered from them if I knew I needed two as I would have gone somewhere where I can get a pair for $22 instead of $30.....and you overcharged me vs. what your shipping price was online. theives with shitty service.....

Placed an order on 2/8 and called on 2/21 to ask why my order has not been delivered. Clerk on phone said he found the order and that it had been held up because one item is on back order, but would send it out that day UPS. Got an e mail on 2/ 27 stating that the order has been shipped UPS and that delivery should be by 2/29. 3 weeks for delivery? I always got shipment within a week to 10 days in the past. Something is going wrong with Mac's and I may find someone else to by my China parts from.
