More than few times I've just brazed a pick-up tube into the tank. I've also added pick-up tubes to S/W fuel senders.

Usually double flared the tube and used either an inverted flare to hose barb or tube union to connect to the fuel line.

Obviously not a deuce in the picture; but an idea.

I redrill the new sender with the 32 bolt pattern. I also draw the fuel from the tank drain on the bottom. Used on many 32's over 50 years. Never a problem

Ok, update to those who are interisted.

Got the pick-up sending unit mount back from the powder coaters this evening. Touch up polished some of the stainless lines, assembled it, checked it out to see if the guage is still in "sink" with the float arm movement. (you know, the float arm at the 1/2 way point, the guage shows 1/2. etc) Tomorrow, will take boo-coo pictures of the unit, and "snaking" it down into the itty-bitty tank flange.

This batch of pictures shows the modification i had to do to the sending unit, and the tank flange.

At the bottom of the float wing arm there was a 1/4'' "hook" I had to cut off to clear the tank flange.

The "mashed" portion of the pick up tube is to hold the pick up filter sock that is in the next batch of pictures.

This batch shows the "snake' process of installing the completed float-pick up assembly.

Simple and quick approach.

@acchaplin Thanks for the pictures of your sender/pick-up/vent. Looks good and I can see the frustration of getting the tube bent just right.

Thanks for the positive comments.

Almost impossible to get 3 "items" to fit in a 1 "item" hole. About 3 decades ago, Dolly Parton was asked about her "boobs". Her reply was something on the line of trying to stuff 10 pounds of 'taters in a 5 pound bag.
