I've had a cold for a couple days, so I won't be able to get back on the seat again until tomorrow or Thursday. Thanks for the advice so far. Very helpful.

Here is a picture of Arlyn's seat with the sliding parts installed. I agree, you need to replace the wood bottom to do it correctly.
