In the 1940's my older brother and I shared a pedal car that looked like that and used it a lot. It might have come used as I remember the paint finish being rather dull.. We had a cinder driveway so the traction was good. The way they built them then we never had to work on it. From that we upgraded to Tricycles then to 2-wheeler Roadmaster bicycles, which Dad taught us to take apart and reassemble. They got many coats of brushed-on paint as our choice of colors changed. My first car at age 15 was a beat-up ugly bath-tub '47 four-door Ford. Bought for $60 the rear gear was stripped and the radiator leaked. Friends help me fix it up and in early Junior High School times that car, packed with my friends, did numerous trips through the streets of the "Red Light' district in our city where the women hung-out the windows and waved to us. What a thrill.

My first car was a1930 Model A fordor I got for graduation from high school in 1963 in Big Bear Lake, Ca. Drove it that summer but backed it downhill into a 3' diameter pine tree at 30 MPH as the brakes failed. I ended up in the back seat & when I pulled away from the tree the spare tire hubcap was stuck in the bark.
