Battery tray vs floor board removal

I put Optima 6-volt batteries in my '28 open cab pickup and '28 roadster. They require no maintenance and hold a charge for long periods of non use. They also spin the starter faster than the wet cell batteries do. Although they are a bit pricey they last for a long time. They are ugly but you can't see them unless you get under the cars.

Back to the original question, yes Snyder's (and possibly others) have a kit to slit the floor. It makes it easy to get to the battery if needed, especially if you have insulation, carpet and a Mitchell shifter sticking thru the floor, as I do.

Ever since I bought the 6 Volt Optima, I never had to lift the floor board to check on my battery again.

My winter storage is to shut the car off and walk away. Never had a problem.

I just bought one of these this morning. Should be here Monday. I'll probably have to alter it some to fit my F150 transmission and A/C.
