I wonder what it looks like on the inside of the hood side panels? The attachment on the lower cowl side is the same as the ROW '33s judging from the photo below as is the shape of the handle.

After getting to know you and you're impeccable eye, knowledge and talent for detail.....I have to admit, as I have collected photo's of the "unusual" I have not thought to photo document the "exception" to the norm's (an details we speak of) as the Euro models go. I will , in the future. I have three engine compartment shots from two different vehicles, one like mentioned above, and one that appears to be of the single/ middle hood handle variety BUT uploading the photo's says something about a "missing token" (spelling).
