I will also post some of the T5 adapter information I have posted previously. It might provide you some additional data. Remember, this is T5 specific (actually T5z), but the concept is the same for just about any transmission using a flat adapter plate and a "Hogshead".

Here are a few of the shifter bracket I built. Sorry, this is all I have photos of at the moment. I will also post some examples of other approaches.

The same general setup is used in road racing applications.

Thanks for posting the remote shifter pictures. Looks like you have that problem all figured out. |

I like the T5z and don't really like the idea of switching the tail housing on a new transmission. I could get the T5z for around $1,100 with free shipping for a few years. That was a deal hard to pass up! But no longer.

TJW,,,what’s a good “Round Number Estimate “ (Price) on your conversion..?? That looks like the way to go for one more gear on my 48....

JSeery, That is a very nice solution to moving the shifter without disturbing the innards. Seems simple and clean. Thanks - Bob

I have neither the equipment or brains that JSeery & others here have, so I used the Model Engineering adapter that Gene Sanders sells. As 51540BAT mentioned , it is a very high quality item. When installed & painted, it's hard to tell it's not an original equipment item. I used a true 4 speed, which has the same bolt pattern as the 3+1.
I'm very happy with the setup. I also added a Gear Vendors O/D behind the 4 speed. Again, it works real well, but in the end it probably would have been less costly and easier to just use a T-5 from a Mustang, and do as "J" did with the shifter. Jim |
